I'm not just excited to see the Trojans in action, I am interested to see the DeKalb Barbs as well as they aren't shying away from this epic match. The word on the street is (Scuttlebutt for those over the age of 40) that the setter from DeKalb called out the Trojans. She stated that (in reference to Cary-Grove) "haven't played anyone tough all season and play in a very weak conference." Decisive words! Now I admire the courage it takes to make such a bold statement, but now can the Barbs back it up? I can see how a top team in the state could be overrated, but the top team in the nation is a whole other story. Cary-Grove won the state title last year in 4A and haven't lost a match this year, so it's hard to say that they're overrated. But just because they aren't overrated doesn't mean they're unbeatable. Anyone can beat anyone on any night, but it is going to take the best game DeKalb has ever played to bring down the best team in the nation.
It's possible, but do the Barbs have what it takes to take down #1? I don't know, that's why I just call the games and not predict them. But it should be a lot of fun to cover tomorrow night at Jacobs H.S. in Algonquin 7:00PM as the Cary-Grove Trojans take on the DeKalb Barbs. As always the game will be streaming live online at SportsTownChicago.com and will be available as a free downloadable podcast the following evening on SportsTownChicago.com
And this just in... We will be broadcasting the 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A semi-finals and finals LIVE!!! As always those will be available as a podcast. Be sure to stay tuned to find out where will be this coming Thursday and Saturday!
Let Sectionals Begin!
